I think I am addicted to food. I eat ALL the time now it seems, and am gaining weight as a result (Now 6' 2'' 225lbs with athletic/sort o fatty build). Funny thing is, I never seem to get fully. It's almost as if whatever signals my stomach that I am full has switched off. Anyone have any tips as to how I can get myself back on track? I used to be a healthy 190lbs. Anyone ever had to deal with food addiction? If so, how did you beat it?

And I'm not looking for "I beat my food addiction by not eating" you tards.
Tapeworm?

Yikes, I hope not. I guess I should go get checked out. This has been going on for quite a while now over (6 months). Wouldn't I have seen other effects from a tapeworm by now?
Just because I have a surgeon as my avatar doesn't mean that I know anything about medicine. 😉

That's a Ninja avatar, not a doctor.

it's a surgeon you doofus

I eat a lot too.... but i have found some things that help me since there is no underlying cause for me to eat.

I eat several small meals/snacks throughout the day. I drink a LOT of water all the time, I balance what i eat. I do not deprive myself of things that may not be good for me, but if i do eat something like fries or a candy bar, i will eat some raw veggies or a salad as well.

Try eating food rich in nutrients like raw almonds, tuna fish, chicken, etc.

Plus, really REALLY savor the food you are eating. Be "in the present" when you eat it. Really take the time to taste the food and enjoy it. 🙂

stressed out? Are you sleeping well? Drink more fluids?

I would go to the doctor.

Usually when I go and am not well, the first question they ask me is "Have you noticed any changes in your diet lately". Perhaps there is a very good reason why thats the first question. I hope you are ok, and this is just a wierd thing, but you probably should seek a doctor's opinion.

Stressed out: YES (full time job during day, law school at night, selling house, applying for bar exam, trying to buy new house, mom just lost her job, wife wants baby...) Just a bit going on.

Sleeping Well: Not getting enough sleep, but when I do sleep I am pretty much out cold

Drinking fluids: I drink upwards of 60 Oz of water every day, so don;ty think that is it.

I made an appt to see a doc.

Go on a more fluid diet. Some ideas for you. Take 2 grapefruits and peel off all the skin of the slices individually; that takes some time. Toss in a table spoon of sugar. Toss in like 4 cups of water. Blend it. I find that drinking that will hold me over for like 6 hours or more. It is surprisingly filling and I can pound down some when I want to.

Calories in that is about 280 max.

You can do the same thing with strawberries, lemons, oranges etc.

As you get older keeping the weight off and the tummy full seems to get harder.

If you regularly take any medications, prescription or otherwise, check with your doctor before eating this much grapefruit. It can be deadly.

i have the same problem.

My problem is... my body doesn't get the "I'm full" signal until I've stopped eating for a good 20 min or so.

So try that. Eat your meal, then wait 20 min. THen see if you're still hungry.

Eat something small about 20 minutes before your meal. Something a bit wholesome such as a grain/oat bar-thing.
