Outlook

My 2010 outlook just died and won't start! It said engine reduced and now if it starts it dies immediately! The code p0017 came up but I'm having no luck on what it could be any ideas?!?

If your timing belt or chain isn't shot (how many miles since (which?) of those were last changed?), you probably need a camshaft or crankshaft sensor, or maybe just taken out and cleaned off.

gah, I am confused

when I have problems with, outlook, I always have to reboot, and often rebuild the inbox ... we use outlook 2010 at work, but ... It's not the same 2010 outlook ....

The car -- I assume Saturn Outlook and not Microsoft -- is about nine years old. How many miles on the odometer?

You'll have to decide -- if there's prospect of an expensive "repair" -- whether it's worth it to you. With some cars showing 150K on the odometer, I might be inclined to spend the money. With others, not so much after nine years.

Five years ago, I was discussing the possibility and expense of an engine overhaul with my mechanic. About three years before that, an overdue timing belt broke, and we worried about just the possibility of a blown headgasket and the usual engine damage risk when a timing belt breaks.

Apparently not any such thing, and the prospects are good at 186K that 300K is possible without overhaul -- maybe beyond. But I was thinking I would shoulder the $3K or $4K expense of an engine rebuild.

If another three years elapse and the overhaul prospect looms as a certain option, I'll just buy a new car to replace what will then be 27 years old.
