I recently switched from SBC DSL to Comcast cable internet. Currently I can get the connection to work on a single computer with a direct connection. I'm trying to set the service up to work through a Belkin router and eventually give internet to three computers. Normally with my DSL service I would just hook everything up, set the service up for PPoE, then reset and I'd be golden. Now with Comcast I have tried the Direct setting, the static ip ( although issued none ) and then the PPoE service. No matter what I seem to be putting into my Belkin Router I just can not convince it to say "connected" with the Cable service. What can I try to do to get this home network up and running?

Most cable modem providers are setup for DCHP and the cable modem remembers the MAC address of the first thing you plug into the cable modem. You would probably have to change the settings on the router to DHCP or obtain IP automatically or something similar to that. Reboot the modem and after it aquires the signal from the cable company plug the power into the router and once it aquires turn on your computer and you should be good to go.
