I just flashed my bios on my desktop, and now when I try to power it up, the fans come on for about 3 seconds then they just shut off. I have a K7VTA3 version 2.0. It had bios 2.0e in it and I upgraded to 2.3. The software said that the flash was successful, but after I hit the restart button, it wouldn't boot. How do I fix this?

Edit: I've already tried clearing the CMOS, but it didn't do anything.
 
Try clearing the CMOS:

1) unplug computer

2) take CMOS battery out

3) move the jumper to the Clear position for 20 seconds or so, then move it back to Normal

4) put in battery

5) plug in computer


edit: ooops, I see you tried that already.
 
You could probably pick up a new BIOS chip off ebay for like $10.

If you have access to an identical MB, you can do a hot BIOS swap, then re-flash it. How does that go again?

IIRC Pull old BIOS, replace with working BIOS. Boot to BIOS, cache the BIOS. Reboot to DOS, swap chips back, flash. Done. 😉
 
I can't find any bios chips online. I have plenty of other computers accessable, just none with the same motherboard.
 
are you sure you cleared the Cmos correctly via the instructions of the MB. IF you did it should bring your BIOS back to the orgional version. I would try again and make sure. If not sounds like you need a new chip.. .

Thank god i have Gigabyte Dual BIOS motherboard. IT does wonders.
