Ok...Im having a problem and I think it might be the processor. I ordered a 3.0E processor and mobo combo from newegg. The motherboard it came with is a cheap ECS PT800CE-A. When I installed the CPU into that motherboard I kept getting a BSOD and a constant reboot. I figured maybe my boot hard drive got corrupted so I decided to put my old motherboard and the 2ghz processor back into my case to test out the rest of my hardware. It booted right up no problems. I switched back to the old motherboard and had the same problems as before. So I went back to the hot deals forum and saw the following follow-up post:
"Out of curiosity, did anyone who bought this combo get it to work? The CPU posts then just reboots constantly on mine. I'll take it back tomorrow but I'm curious if its just this board or what. Switched memory, power supplies, even monitors! I thought it was a short so I booted with the board on a desk and nothing connected but a video card and power supply, and still didnt boot without rebooting. They tried to get me to get the MSI too, and now I know why. I just wanna know if this mobo will work with this processor at all. If not, then this is pretty shady, even for Frys. Since the price was good I'll probably just chuck the board if they won't upgrade it, or exchange it for whatever combo they have tomorrow."
after seeing that I decided to get a new MOBO (since that is what I needed) I picked up a MSI 865PE Neo2-P and guess what....same issues as before. I used my g/f's digital camera to take a video of the error message I get since it only displays long enough for me to process a word or two at a time. I made a screen cap of the video (its horrible quality) but can be found here: www.manassasreallysucks.com/pictures/error.jpg It looks like the STOP ERROR is 0x00000079 or 0x0000007B both of which are explained here: http://www.theeldergeek.com/stop_error_messages.htm
