I'm new to building a computer, but here is what I have:

IS7
Pentium 2.8c
Western Digital 80mb SE
LG CD/DVD
Floppy
Zalman 7000 Alcu
Antec Sonata Case

I followed the instructions and put all the wires together. One of the main problems I had during installation was placing the Zalman heatsink to the processor. The bolts that came with the board were not long enough so I used the "nipples" that came with the heatsink to lock it in place. I started it up and didn't hear anything. I'm assuming when people use the word "post" on message boards it means the motherboard beeps when you start up. There are lights on the motherboard so I believe everything is installed properly. I didn't get the bios screen like I'm suppose to and after further investigation I noticed the heatsink was never touching the processor. Basically, when I boot up nothing shows up on the screen and the monitor says it doesn't detect a signal. The computer did power down after a few minutes which I'm assuming is because of heat.

Well I'm hoping this isn't an expensive lesson for me, but can someone assist me with my problems?

1. The screws that came with the Zalman do not reach the clips? Should I get longer screws or am I doing something wrong?
2. With the heatsink originally not connected to the processor, did I fry it?

Thank you in advance.

p.s. Sorry, this was suppose to be posted in the IS7 message board.
