Hi all,
I have quite a problem here. I was attempting to upgrade my Windows XP Home laptop to XP Pro. I selected the Upgrade option from the CD and it went along doing its thing until it got to the "Preparing Installation" portion. At this point, the computer rebooted and I got a Stop Error saying that CRYPTUI.DLL was corrupt.
I rebooted from the CD again and it found that this computer was already in the process of upgrading to XP. So I selected the "Continue Upgrade" option. This time it went through and copied all the files like it should and restarted normally as it should.
When it tried to boot up, though, I get a:
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM"
I attempt to reboot from the CD again and it still recognizes that this computer is in the middle of an upgrade, so I select continue upgrade again and it brings me back to the installation where it sits on "Preparing Installation" for a while before finally saying
"Setup cannot locate the Windows installation you want to upgrade"
I need help! Any ideas?
