I installed xp on a new drive using both an ntfs format and a fat32....

However neither one will allow me to see, use, or share files from my second drive...

It is a 45g ata100 maxtor partitioned into 2 20g plus drives...both are fat32 format....

The drive is connected into the primary slave and is jumpered correct, cuase in win98 the drive works flawlessly....

1)what is the issue????drivers for xp???

2) is it the ntfs thing???

3) I tried to see if the drive needed intialization following the help menu and I can't do it...it will not see the drive in disk management...However it does see it fine in the bios and system devices....

PLease help...I want to run it in xp cause win98 has a lot of inherent problems doing the things I want to do with this computer....

Where is this NTFS you installed? What is the partition setup on both drives?

And what do you mean in Win98 the drive works flawlessly? Do you have a dual boot setup? Or are you disconnecting new drive then booting into Win98?
