Help! www.coolermasterusa.com won't open properly, disabled Norton Internet Security, etc.

Gentlemen/Ladies:

I'm trying to put together a pc and noticed that www.coolermasterusa.com won't open (actually, www.coolermaster.com won't open either). I've disabled my Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus thinking that this could the issue, nope. The site loads VERY slowly and doesn't fully load. I get little red "x" in lieu of the thumbnail graphics on that site, maybe that's a clue.

Here are my settings in Internet Explorer's Tools/ Internet Options tab's Advanced area:

Under Java (Sun): there is only one option and it is checked (Use Java 2 v1.4.2_05 for <applet>
Under Microsoft VM: all three options are checked (Java console enabled; Java logging enabled; and JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled)

I'm very frustrated as to why I cannot open this site. I think I've provided all the clues I can, should anyone require more clues to help, please post or email. I'd be most delighted to provide them.

Can you open the site with Firefox?

BTW, Java version 1.5 is out. But I'm not sure Java is your problem in this case. Sounds more like a problem with zones. Are you sure you don't have your IE security settings set too high?

i tried in IE to change my security settings from "medium" and reset it to "low", but it won't "stick". i clicked reset and then ok, but when i reopen it, it is at medium again. this is under "custom".

any advice?

Try Firefox.

Also, I would advise against setting security in IE to "low". That just opens up too many opportunities for exploits. You should be able to view that page at "medium".

Do you have a firewall running that could be filtering out some of the content?

Hi Somniferum:

my norton internet security has been disable for trying to fix this, so has Norton antivirus. both are 2003 versions, with the proper fee paid for renewing the subscription so i'm always up to date.

hope this answers your firewall question.

i do have a wireless router for my laptop to have access to the internet. but my laptop (ibm)'s bios has been updated recently and i have not re-installed any of the programs yet so my laptop isn't that functional yet. something was wrong with its wireless functions so their tech guy told me to "reset to factory conditions" via some ibm proprietary software build into the ibm laptop, so that meant reinstalling everything. ugh. that's why i haven't done it yet in a couple of weeks...

Tried everything. Downloaded the latest flash, downloaded and ran both spybot and ad-aware. nothing really disastrous found.

i have a feeling that it is IE that is the big problem, as it did not load the home page of mozilla.org properly (the big green download button won't load up and the homepage doesn't appear correctly).

i was told that IE is part of windows xp and it cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled separately, is that correct? i do have the service pack 2 installed already. and, by the way, my IE problems were before i installed SP2.

sad to report, i just downloaded firefox and it still didn't work: that is, www.coolermasterusa.com still doesn't load up.

something weird is going on. i just cannot figure out what!!

Have you tried posting in the Networking forum? Unfortunately I don't have much experience with wireless networks, and it sounds like that may be the root cause of your issue. I've noticed more people tend to respond in the hardware-specific forums as opposed to Technical Support.

If Firefox doesn't display the page either, then it's definitely a networking issue of some kind. Sorry I don't have more help for you -- if it's not a firewall or filtering issue then I'm stumped. Perhaps it has something to do with the configuration of your wireless router.

<edit> P.S. It is true that you can't uninstall IE -- Microsoft designed it that way to help them with their legal battles. It's good to have it on your system anyway, for running Windows Update and for the rare pages that Firefox doesn't display correctly. Personally though I prefer Firefox for just about everything else.

Somniferum: you're correct! when i use the cable directly from the cable modem to my pc, it works!
