Help with XP and Win98

Ok heres the problem:
I have 2 computers networked, the downstairs with XP Pro and upstairs with 98se. The 2 computers can ping eachother fine but neither show up in Network Neighborhood or My network Places. I sign in on the 98 machine the the administrator account info on the XP machine. Both are on the same workgroup. So should work. The IP address on the XP machine is 192.168.0.2 and the other 192.168.0.8. I made sure to use only TCP/IP on the 98 box. What could be the problem?

-Thanks

Have you enable netbios over TCP? Without netbios the 9x machine cannot communicate with XP. Go to network control panel, TCP/IP properties, Advanced, enable netbios over IP.

I think. 🙂

Spidey07,
I have about the same problem Franz316 had with an XP and a 98 machine (can ping both machines but can't see XP shared folder from 98 machine). When I go to check "enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP" the checkbox is grayed out. What am I missing?
