Help with windows not loading.

The computer starts up fine and goes the the windows log in screen(win7) but instead of it asking for my username and password, it's just saying please wait. I even get the normal sounds that it plays when the log in screen appears, but it just continues to say please wait and has done it many times.

I was able to get in using safe mode with networking. Then I restarted to normal and still, "Please wait..."

I did a system restore and can now get to the log in, but right after I put in the username and password to log in, it just says "Welcome" and windows never loads. Also, I tried the using the start up repair and system restore from the recovery/windows dvd.

Any suggestions?

the 3 most obvious things to try
>bootable AV rescue disk like Kaspersky or NOD 32 or Hirens AIO
>reset bios to load failsafe defaults
>Memtest86+ from booted floppy or booted CD

You didnt mention if this started happening out of nowhere, or if its a new build.
OEM???
How long has the PC been working fine?
What is your exact setup (HW)?
What O/S are you using?
Where did you get it?
Did you overclock?
Do you have just Admin and 1 user? Or no user?
Which are you trying to access at boot?

The next thing I would try is using a bootable pw resetter and when it asks for new PW leave it blank
Failing that, run a full scandisk from cmd on Win 7 DVD. Also drive manuf testing utility.
Run booted trial vers of HD Regenerator 2011 trial sw to check for bad sectors
