I just got his email for from a relative. Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks for the help!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I get two errors on startup that mention:

HKCMD

And

IGFXTRAY

These are both related to my intel graphics drivers

The machine starts up and runs but will lock up.

There are no viruses on the machine.

There is also an error (Black Exclamation mark surrounded by yellow) in the control panel when I look at hardware / drivers.

Windows 98 machine.

Have them go into the control panel, then select device manager, expand (click on the "+") the display adapter and and highlight it, then click on properties. There may be an explaination shown on the general tab. Anyway, select the "driver" tab and hit update driver.

Reinstalling it may clear this up

Good Luck with it.

well, you could have them go into msconfig and have them disable those 2 items in question and see if that stops the locking up until they can research the issue more and/or reinstall drivers if needed.
