I know how to disable programs that start up automatically in Win98 but how the heck do you do it in Win2K?

Goto Control Panel then Admistrative Tools. Then COmputer Management then to Sub-Menu, "Services"

This should of gone to the OS Forum, but oh well :)

urbantechie,

I dont know why you and everyone else suggest doing this. That will only let you configure which SERVICES are loaded up on startup. No single program I've ever installed has been setup as a service, and I doubt Doggiedog has either.

Doggiedog,

I've found a sweet program to let you choose what starts with Windows. Its called Startup Control Panel. You can download it here: Startup Control Panel

many startup programs that are written correctly for win2k go into the services.

but for windows in general, run "regedit" and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If you are unfamiliar with regedit, i'd use something like the program stefan mentioned
