Help with TV Output for Laptop

Hi Guys,

I recently bought Acer Aspire5002wlmi Laptop. Even though Laptop has everything, it lacks s-video output port. As a result, I was wondering if there is any compnent I can buy to display my computer content on tv. Also, is there any tv tuner that will give me this ability and ability to record live television. My budget is $ 70.

Not for $70. You need a scan converter. Something like this: http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/PC-TV_video_adapter.html

For what you probably paid for that laptop you should have bought one with an integrated s-video output if you needed it.

Thank you for your reply, but I do not understand what this scan converter does? I only need a S-video out for my computer. Do you any any USB s-vidoe output.

There is no such thing. You can't connect something to the USB to get video out. You need to have video out integrated into your video chip, or else you need a scan converter to convert the 15 pin SVGA output of the video chip (the jack you would connect to an external computer monitor) to composite or s-video.

You really should have bought a laptop with built-in s-video. I don't even know how you managed to buy one without it - they all have s-video now.

Thank you for the clarification. It make perfect sense. I did not realize that laptop does not have s-video till i bought it. I this I will have to spend another $150 to make it happen... thanks

Shop around. Do a search for "scan converter" in Google. That one I linked to was the first one I found. It seems to be needlessly fancy.
