hi,first of all i apologise this post is soo long but please read if u think u can help...

went down to the local hardware store that i didnt realise was there, anyway the guy tries to pull across me that the Radeon 8500 128Mb was much faster then even the Ti4600 - i was like puh-lease, talk to the hand cause the face isnt listening!

anyway point is, after awhile on this forum and many hardware reviews(& especially AnAndAustin) i know the Ti4200 is mucho better than the R8500.

ok straight to the point -
this cardthe Asus Ti4200 128 Mb i
s mucho better than this card
3rd party card yesno??

the "Dual 350MHz RAMDACs" basically means the memory speed is 350Mhz and versus the 446Mhz its no match?

does anyone perhaps know any other UK websites with cheap Ti 4200 128Mb????

hey blade :)

first of all i would like to ask you if you have considered getting a second hand card from someone off these forums?

you will get such a better deal, you may not be able to return it, and be careful about people overclocking their cards if you buy them , voids the warranty if you can get one.

but i am in the same situation as you (also living in england), i am thinking of getting a geforce 4 TI4200 or something close but i dont wanna spend more than £150 on one. the thing is i was close to buying a leadtek winfast geforce 4 TI4600 from someone on these forums for $250 which is roughly £160 now i garauntee you wont find a geforce 4 TI4600 in england for this price.

also you would be better off getting the ASUS card from komplett if you were to decide to buy one from the UK, i have owned ASUS cards before i i absolutely loved it, i had the 8200 deluxe which is the 'classic' geforce 3, the quality of the card was brilliant, it's just like shopping for stereo equipment really, you wouldn't go for an aiwa or alba walkman over a sony walkman that cost the same would you?

oh and bt the way, the dual ramdacs is not the same thing as the memory speeds, they will probably both have the same memory speeds, however if the 3rd party card is OEM then it may have slightly lower core/memory clock speeds.

basically i would suggest getting a geforce 4 TI4600 from someone off the forums on here if you are intending to spend around £160 or so.
if not then i would get the ASUS card, very nice indeed, i read a really good review somewhere i cant remember where it outperformed a TI4400.
try to get the 128mb version as well, i think they have 2.8ns memory chips as well, or is it 3.3?

At work we got in a couple of MSI 128mb GF4 Ti4200 with DVI, TV Out, 7 games, and we were selling it for £150. However i sold the last 2 on Saturday (but didn't have the money to get one myself at the time :() and don't know when/if we're getting any more in, but i will let you know. :)

All i know is that's a rediculous price for such a good card!

K9jamie2833 - no thanks but i dont think i would and will not buy a card from the forum - never came to my mind so i aint gonna bother to-thanks for the info on the Asus though, i'll probably get that. yeah i know the prices here in the UK are ludicrous (im in bonnie Scotland btw hehe), although the cheapest 128mb Radeon 8500 is not online but down the road from me, for only £135, damn good but i know the Ti4200 should be longer lasting in terms of playing games in the future, thing i dont understand is that the R8500 has higher bandwidth than the Ti4200 but i suppose bandwidth isnt everything!

Confused - do let me know about these cards and who do you work for anyway, must be a madhouse to sell 7games+Ti4200 128Mb for £150- hehe jokin, do let me know though!

Well as i said i sold the last 2 (well the only 2) on Saturday @ £150. The shop manager is now selling them for £165 when they come in on Monday. But that's still about the same price as a similarly specced one on Dabs etc.

I work in a small computer shop in Bracknell, send me a PM if you want details of phone number etc to call if you want to order one. I will be gettin it on Monday (so long as they do come in then) so i will report on what it's like :)

K9jamie2833 - i just found this site selling at Geforce 4 Ti4200 128Mb for 140.91 - the advantage it has over the asus board that ive linked in a post above is that its memory is apparently 500Mhz in comparison to 446Mhz, seems pretty good but it doesnt say anything about the manafacturer of the board, will try and find out though
