Hi,

I put a new computer together, but the problem that I am having is installing the operating system on it. I put the windows 2000 cd in the cd rom and the cd drive doesn't do anything. The computer screen is all blank and the only thing that appears in a "_" underscore that just blinks. The computer hangs there forever.

Please help me!

My system:
AMD XP 1800+
MSI KT3 Ultra
Maxtor 40GB
ATI Radeon 8500LE 64MB
256MB Mushkin PC333
 
does it show the post screen? thats the screen with all the info on it about yer ram, cpu speed and such. If so check to make sure thats all correct, the cpu is the correct speed, and so is the ram.
 
Try booting your computer with a windows 98 startup disk and when asked if you wish cdrom support choose Option 1 and then when at the a: prompt try aceesing the cdrom by typing the drive letter ? followed by dir. If you can see the files on the cd try running the setup and see what happens.😀:|:Q:|😀
