Help with the origin of a phrase?

Does anybody know the origin of the phrase: "does the carpet match the drapes?"
Is it originally from a movie? or is it one of those phrases that just sprouts up?

Don't know the actual origin but the first time I remember ever hearing the phrase was in the movie M.A.S.H.
