Help with SSD Choice

Hello,

I am in the market for an SSD drive. I didn't want to spend too much over $200 bucks. I have done some research and see these drives are around the most popular for that price range.

Corsair Force 60GB
OCZ Agility 2 60GB
Intel X25-M 80GB

I am a gamer so I was hoping for more space than 60GB. The Intel is a bit bigger, but I am looking more toward performance. Today while browsing newegg I found this drive.

OCZ Agility 2 OCZSSD3-2AGT90G 3.5" 90GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227604

It has no reviews from anyone as of yet. It has a nice rebate that drops the price down to around $170 bucks. Is this some going obsolete drive or is this something new that is just going on up? Just a bit nervous ordering something that hasn't had some others point of views on them. Am I safe to pick this up or should I stick with the standard drives above which have been tested by Gurus like you :).

Thanks,

zzglenn -- there are others here that know much more than me, I'm sure... but since no one has replied to you, I thought I'd jump in and say -- from what I've read on these forums and elsewhere, the Agility 2 is generally looked favorably upon. Sounds like a good deal, to me. :)

Its the same Sandforce controller as the Corsair Force and the other Agility 2's, so the performance should be very similar. OCZ just put different capacity flash chips in there.

Reliability has been better on the Intel side; dont' forget 25 nm comes out soon and the prices of SSD drives will go down. I'm selling off my Replacement Vertex 100g LE and the other Vertex 2 when it arrives

Havent there been a bunch of bricking Agility 2 and Vertex 2 drives? I think you are safe with the Indilix Agility and Vertex or the Intel drive.
I have been using a 60Gb Agility with no problems for months now, and its cheap and fast.

Thanks all for the response.

I know this one has the deal, but it is new to newegg. I can't seem to find any testing on this specific one. I have heard 1 positive and 1 negative. The first being they are very fast the second its totally random, but they brink more often than others. So I am still on the fence.

A little bit off-topic, but what does the rest of your system look like? That $200 could be better spent on a more important factor in gaming...

But regarding the SSD choice, I never found OCZ reliable, so I'd wait for Intel's 25nm drives. If you want one now though, I'd pick the Corsair Force over the A/V series.
