help with speakers

Ok, so I just moved into a new apartment, and the strangest thing is happening. The speakers for my computer, the speakers in my TV, and the speakers hooked up to a receiver sometimes output what appears to be one end of a CB conversation. It's always the same old man, and the only way I can get rid of it is to completely disconnect the speaker wire (or in the case of the TV, turn the volume all the way to 0). I have no clue why this is happening. It never happened before. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?? It's driving me insane.

Our neighbor used to have this powerful CB radio setup that emmenated from my speakers sometimes. Sometimes it worked by moving the wires since they were picking up some sort of interference, but the only way to make it stop is find out whose doing it and tell them to stfu 🙂

dammit.....i was hoping there would be something i could buy to shield my speakers from this....this is really annoying

you probably actually can buy shielded wires, a bit more expensive, but apparently it'll be worth it...sometimes as suggested, moving them around to find spots of less-noise helps too

If it is a neighbor with a CB or ham radio causing the interference you should notify the FCC. They aren't allowed to do that. Period.

Not necessarily. If they've got a ham radio license, then the FCC is going to back up the ham radio operator. My dad is a ham radio operator, and we had a neighbor that would pick up his interference on her cordless phone. She called the FCC, and they told her to call the phone manufacturer, since my dad was licensed to operate a ham radio.

If it sounds like CB, it probably IS CB. CB is limited to 4W carrier (12W PEP for SSB). These power levels even with the highest gain directional antennas should not present problems like these. Most likely, he is running a footwarmer (linear amp which is illegal).

Buy a 40 channel walkie talkie off ebay for a couple of dollars. Cruise around until you find the offender. Find a copy of Kingpin. There are PLENTY of offensive wav files on that game you can play to him. If all else fails, you can play Britney Spears or Beyonce to plug his ears. (and drive him insane!)
