Help with speakers please.

Ok, so i have some Klipsh ProMedia GMX D-5.1 speakers. They worked beatifully for about a year, and then all of a sudden they started making this HORRIBLE sound. No matter what volume its on there is this very loud kind of static sounding noise that doesn't stop.
Please help if you can and if I should give more information, let me know. I don't exactly know what I should be reporting about this. Thank you for any input.

First make sure all the speaker connections are clean and pushed in tight. And I mean ALL the connections.

Did that just the other day, cleaned them with a Qtip and rubbing alcohol. All are well.

Do you have another computer to hook them up to and see if it is the sound chip or the speakers?

I have not done that yet, but I have unplugged the audio in red and white cords, and it still makes the noise.

Have you tried plugging the power cord in a separate outlet? Sometime you can get a hum from a groundloop.

Ok, I tried that, still the nasty noise. Maybe they are just toast, it's just very weird that they would be fine one day and bad the next. I really appreciate the ideas you've given already and if you have more, please let me know. I thank you VERY much for still trying!
