Help with SETI@Home service on Win2000 Pro

Okay, I've rolled out over a dozen Win2000 Pro boxes using the Seti@Home Service v2.0 at work and I had no problems. All of them connect via a single SetiQ server. I loaded Win2000 Pro on the system my bro and I setup for my mom and I can't get the stupid client to work. When I try to install it with my proxy I use the following command:

seti_control install -proxy system2:5512 (system2 is my SetiQ and it's on port 5512 - I tried using the IP as well but same result). I connect to my SetiQ and am prompted for my user info. I enter 2 for existing and enter my Email when prompted. That's the last thing that happens. I left it for several hours and it didn't move.

I also tried without the proxy (seti_control install) letting it connect to the Berkeley servers. I connect and get prompted for 1 (new user) or 2 (existing user). I enter 2 and am prompted for my user Email. I enter it (tried a bunch of times) and it tells me my Email is not valid. I tried manually and with the setup.bat. Same result.

What gives?

So the second problem is expected. Still, I should be able to grab a WU off my SetiQ and get up and running right? This thing just hangs right before the service should finish installing.

I just installed the 815 chipset update and I got a message on reboot saying "isapnp.sys is missing or corrupted". I think I've got some bad RAM. I'm going to pull a 128MB stick out of one of my other systems and start over. Oh joy. :|

Why don't you copy over your user_inf file from another system..

You won't have to type in your info then, it should just run OK.

cheers,

You mean user_info.sah right? I tried that last night and it still prompted me. I've never had a problem with this at work and I've got another 2000 box using the same files and the same connection here.

When it hangs it creates: temp.sah, user_info.sah, and version.sah. Normally the service should install and the DOS window should close. From there I just type "net start seti@home" and the service should fire off. I am logged in as administrator when performing everything. This sucks.

Edit: It's working now, I think. For whatever reason when I installed the service it didn't close out the 2nd DOS window. Instead it gave me an error about not being able to connect to the server. I did the "net start seti@home" and it's running now.
