Hi,

The PCI-e power connector on my Seasonic PSU has a 8-pin (6 + 2) connector at the outgoing end. But the HD 6870 has two 6 pin connectors. How am I supposed to connect these?

Edit: I noticed that there is a 6pin to molex? cable included with the card. Can I just use the 6pin part of the 8pin (ignore the 2pin) and for the second 6pin, use one of the auxiliary 6pin to connect it via the adapter?

Thanks

Yes, use the molex (4-pin) to 6-pin for your second connector.

What are your system specs? If you have what I think for a power supply it'll probably strain.

The corsair should have the 6 pins with the extra 2 pins on the connector for an 8pin PCI-E card.

Yes, you use 6 pins of the 6+2 pin connector. There's only one way it will fit so don't be shy to try plugging it into the video card.

If you look carefully at the plug, you will see that 2 of the connectors can be separated from the other 6, like how the motherboard cable is a 20+4 pin cable (on most PSU's) and on some PSU's the 8-pin +12V mobo power cable is actually a 4+4 pin connector.

Make sure you plug power to both 6-pin connectors on the 6870 as the card won't work otherwise. If your motherboard doesn't have two 6-pin or 8-pin PCIe plugs then you'll need a molex-to-6pin adapter.

I ended up buying a Saphire 6850....I'll probably install it tonite.
I also got a Samsung 1t Spinpoint at a reasonable price considering...
This is for Batman and Skyrim at 1080p.

Room temp 30c.....6850 idle temp 46c.....so I doubt this card will exceed 80c under full load.
This is Saphire heatpipe tech....
