Help With Running!

My first Cross Country practice is today and I haven't done much summer running. We're gonna be doing 6 mile intervals. 1 mile, stop. 1 mile, stop. Etcetera, etcetera. Is there anything I can do today that will help me in getting through the miles? I'm gonna do about a half hour of streching before I go so I don't cramp up too much.

Thanks.

Big spaghetti meal about an hour before
lots of water
some energy bars to carry with you
prayer, if you're so inclined 😉

Yes I'll be praying quite a bit. 🙂 - Thanks.

Now. . .Should I eat the Krispie Kremes before I do the pot or after?

Start drinking lots of water NOW! Get yourself properly hydrated to prevent cramps. Eat a banana to get some potassium in your system - also a cramp preventor.

Tim, remember to pick up your feet when you run! (actual quote from a dad of a player I played baseball with in high school)

YES! We have bananas!

Hydration hydration hydration... very important.

A bannana is good advice too.

But something that is just as important as hydration: Don't over-do it!!! You have 6 one mile intervals to run, and you're out of shape (beginning of training season is what I'm referring to). Run the first 2 at a comfortable pace, forcing yourself to hold back. Then you should have a much more enjoyable and successful ending to today's training.

Negative splits!

Alright thanks. I CAN run 2 miles straight easily, and on the third mile I slow down some. So I guess I'd have a tendency to kill myself on the first couple today - I'll try and hold back.
