I just purchased an ECS mother board (K7VTA3), AMD 2800+ CPU, and 512MB of DDR DIMM RAM. I installed everything, connected my HDD, etc. and turned the system on. The fan ran on the CPU, but no life from the other installed devices. No monitor, no hdd, etc. I set the clock speed for 166. Any ideas?

Could the BIOS be corrupted on the board? Memory not good? CPU not operaitng properly? I'm taking all the stuff back in the morning, but though you mignt have an idea.

Thanks!

Check the cmos jumper. On my last board, the cmos jumper was in the "clear" position, instead of the "normal" run setting. Also try a minimal install. Place the board on the box it came in. Use just one stick of memory, cpu/heatsink, and video card, and try posting. Use the power switch lead or a screwdriver to short the 2 jumpers and start.

The usual suspects: CMOS jumper not on Normal, PSU not hooked up right (mind the 4-pin auxiliary power plug!), CPU fan not connected to CPU FAN header.

I would also reseat the memory. You should hear 2 distinct clicks when each side engages. And double check your power switch lead. I had to exchange this board 4 times to get one that posted everytime, but Fry's was decent, and gave me no hassles.

Full system specs would help. Brand & model of power supply, what speed the memory is rated for (at least PC2700 will be needed), and what all of the parts are. I also have more no-POST/no-run brainstorms here.
