Well, I just builted a computer with an ECS mobo. I know I know, it's a crappy board but hey, $65 for xp2000 with mobo, who can resist. Anyways. I'm suppose to have 512mb of ram but when I look in "system info" it said I only have 395mb available. Is this normal? I haven't install anything yet so it shouldn't be working too hard. Also, there is no sound coming out. I've try everyhting but still no luck. Is this a common problem for this board?

Seeing as how you didn't deign to list the exact board, that's a hard question to answer. I'm assuming either the K7S5A or K7S5A pro or somesuch. If you are looking at windows system information, look for "total physicaly memory", available is just what is not in use by windows or programs currently. As far as your sound make sure you have downloaded the latest drivers, when I used the disc provided to me on my original K7S5A to get drivers, windows xp didn't like any of them.

When you bust open System Properties, the ram you have that's detected by the board is right under the Computer heading under the processor subheading.

So like mine says:
Computer:
AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+
2.09 GHz
512 MB of RAM.

This 512 is the total ram I have in my board, and this value is correct.

As for the sound, make sure it's turned on in Bios (I'm assuming you have a K7S5A/Pro), and when you're in the OS, go download the sound driver from ECS's web site and install it for the board if you haven't done so yet.
