Help with quitting smoking

1) Don't buy cigarettes
2) Don't hang with people that smoke (i.e, can't "loan" you one)

I had good luck with two months of Chantix, it can do strange things to you though, have him talk to his doctor.

I stopped smoking ~year and a half ago. Haven't cheated, and have had no desire to go back to cigarettes, except to piss of the uppity prick asshat anti-smokers.

I should quit... like meltdown the thought of standing in -10 deg F weather smoking isn't exactly the greatest.

Lots of people are saying quit drinking for a few months? Fuck that, that would be pretty hard for me. One thing at a time.
 
1) Stop drinking.

2) Buy a vaporiser and some good bud.

3) Everytime you fiend for a cig, hit the vapo a few times.

4) Start working out after you've been off the cigs for a week or so.

5) Remember step 1, and steps 2 & 3 worked for me, but you may want to do the patch or something.

Keeping the drinking to a minimum is key, because after a few beers the craving is infinitely worse, and you're more likely to go for one. Good luck. With my method, I promise you'll be a happier, healthier person before you know it!

This. A big key is to not be around smokers, and QUIT DRINKING for 3 months. Then slowly bring alcohol back in....


Except my wife and I used Chantix. Been smoke free since the end of Feb.

If we had to do it again we'd probably do cold turkey. I didn't like the side effects of Chanix, but it did its job.

the most intense cravings i'd ever had was about 2-3 weeks after quitting, i smoked some bud and that was one of my habits. right after smoking a bowl, i'd immediately smoke a cigarette, this is not uncommon.
at that point, i was about a hair from calling a friend & giving him some free weed or just flushing it down the john.

but, also i really think that was a major turning point in the process. i knew it couldnt really get worse than that. except, new years eve, 4.5 months later, at a party where i was the only person out of 20 that wasn't smoking. that was pretty rough too, but definitely another corner.
 
I used to smoke about 2 packs a day. I had been throwing the idea of quitting of an on for about a year. One weekend I went to see a freind that I hadn't seen in some time. We wento ut and got drunk as hell and smoked about 4 packs of cigs between us in about 6 hours time. The next day, I woke up and felt terrible. I said on that day that I would never smoke again. That was 3 years ago and I've not had a smoke since. I've also not had any nicotine. I quit dipping as well.

I think the main thing is that you have to really want to stop. Now, being around smoke in a bar hits me pretty hard and I can smell a smoke a mile away. I was the type of user that would have a dip in and a smoke hanging out of my mouth at the same time. I never thought I would be able to change.

LMAO while your advice may be good and while I might even agree with it, I don't think substituting a bad habit for a potentially dependency-forming illegal vice is the best idea for everyone out there 😉

oh well... many other states offer the same program. i know they do here in NY too.
 
First time I quit for 5 years after heart surgery (age of 29). They gave me the patch in the hospital. Evidently it worked.

Like a dumbass, I started again, years later. This time I used the patch again, smoke free for ~90 days now.

A doctor told me this: The one thing that keeps him from smoking again is knowing he'd have to quit again.

Agreed. Try it OP. It's very expensive and some insurance companies will not cover it. It's the best stuff ever to quit smoking but the side effects are hard to manage at times.
