Hey I just put together my new system:

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
Q6600
Tuniq 120
2 Gig Gskills
700w thermaltake power

And my Quad temps are at 68! And I haven't even overclocked anything yet. I really need some help, suggestions, anything please!

Get some aftermarket cooling, otherwise you won't be able to OC. People like the ultra120, I have the Sythe Ninja, and also a big typhoon. They are all good.

welcome to anandtech.

Next time please use the search feature. You'll see tons of thread expecially with my posts in them complaining about how hot these girls get.

OP: 68 -

That sounds high for stock ..

I would try reseating HSF - make sure you don't have too much thermal grease .

How is your case ventilation - Gotta' move the hot air out of the case ..

You need low 40's at stock, before you want to think about overclocking ...

68C idle or load? In a 32C house (90F), my Q6600@ stock runs at 39C idle/64C load on a Thermalright Ultra120 (NOT eXTREME. People keep thinking I have the eXtreme. I don't)

okey i missed the part about the tuniq as well.

Its definitely a mounting or too much TIM issue.

Remount the heat sink, and apply a small amount of TIM, I think you over applied it.

Also this is posted in the wrong area of this forum.

Thats where it should be. This forum is ment for overclocking and cpu issues. Not cooling and heat issues.
