Help with programs that autoload on startup

I am running WinME.

After I boot up the computer and press CTRL-ALT-DEL the close program box will appear. There is a program running called MSbb and I have no idea where it came from or what it is. It was probably loaded off the internet accidentally while surfing. Anyway, with this program running, my internet explorer 6.0 will not open. If I close the MSbb program manually in the close program box, then internet explorer will start up fine.

Is there a way that I can prevent this MSbb program from loading in the first place on startup ? The System tray does not show it and I don't know how to delete it.

Thanks !

Ad-Aware 6 with it's newest updates is the best spyware blocker I've found. And if you need to take out anything from the startup, use msconfig or hit the registry at hkeylocalmachine/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run

Spyblaster 3.1 is out now and will help keep adware and spyware from loading while your surfing.
It works very well and is free. give it a try. it also has frequent free update.
I think you will be very happy with it's performance.

The suggestions were great. My system is like new again.

I am surprised that spy software can be installed while I am surfing without notification. I thought the medium security level setting on Internet explorer would prevent that. Is there any browser setting that will stop spyware, or do I absolutely need to install some type of blocker ?

I can understand that some websites need to fund themselves when I visit their page by displaying pop ups and other ads, but it is complete BS that ads get displayed that have no affiliation with the website I am using.
