Help with Premiere

I have a bunch of video clips, about 35, and I want to edit and burn them onto DVD using Premiere and Encore CS3.

All of the clips would probably take up 7 or 8 DVD's. What I want to do is have it so that if I pop in the DVD a menu comes up with video thumbnails of each clip, but also the option the play the whole DVD through.

When I drop the clips in premiere, how do find out the sizes of the clips together to make sure it fits on a DVD? Or what's the best way to go about doing what I need? Any help would be appreciated.
 
how long are the clips total? open a playlist in winamp or WMP and it should give you a running today, with compression you can fit 4 hours on a regular DVD and still have ok quality. If you want higher quality just split it up into a few DVD's. I don't use Premiere much but I love Encore, I have Encore 2 but aside from Blue Ray & the Flash export it's identical.

If you drop all the clips into Premiere select them all and drag them to the timeline at the bottom, it will tell you how long it is, 4 hours or less with proper compressions isn't a problem.


I'd Google to find a DVD Bitrate calculator to see settings to use when exporting to get the best quality and still have it fit. BR Calc's are amazing, I don't understand why neither Premiere or Encore has one.
 
Thanks for the tip. The clips are about 7 hours total. I tried using the Cyberlink Powerproducer/Powerdirector software that came with the camcorder which said that it would take 7 DVD's, but I didn't really like it.

I don't mind if it takes more DVD's if the increase in quality is worth it. The main reason I wanted to know how much can fit is so that I know how many clips I can fit before I have to start on a new DVD. For example, lets say I drop in 4 clips and can fit another clip or two onto the disc, I would like to know the length of clip I can add so that it doesn't go over the limit. I will look into a DVD bitrate calculator. Is there any recommended ones, or are they basically the same?

Also, how about the video thumbails? Is it very hard to do with Premiere/Encore?
