If the components are incorrectly plugged it still should power on with the power plugged in right?

Cheap power supplies are notorious for not working or causing problems.

Your power supply (and case that came with it) cost only $32.00 US.

The quality in those things are just not there.

The only thing you can do at this point is to take out the motherboard, use only one stick of ram, your CPU, and video card, and try to fire it up.

Still doesn't work. How can I be sure it's the power supply's problem? But if the power supply is bad then why did the green led on the motherboard light up?

That just tells if you if there is power to the motherboard.

If it is a crap power supply, it could very well not provide enough power for it to boot up.

What does the power supply say on the sticker on it's side? What is the company?

The power supply has a 1 year warranty. I can take it back to them for an exchange. But how can I be sure it's the power supply?

Is there any other system that that power supply could be tested in?

My athlon 64 system kind of needs a 350 Watt power supply minimum. I guess I can try it on the intel P3.

See if it will fire in the P3 system.

I don't have to mount the power onto the p3's case right? I can just place it anywhere and connect them right?

Correct.

Just place it close to the case so you can plug in the power connector and the power switch.

Could be. Try reseating everything.

P3's are not as flaky when it comes to power supplies. Pentium 4's and Athlon XP chips and motherboards are when things started getting a little more picky.

Try the power supply from your Athlon 64 system in the XP system.

If it still doesn't boot, it probably is the motherboard.

Even if I misplugged the cables as long as the power is plugged in then it should power on if the motherboard is not dead right? What do you mean by resetting everything?

Doesn't work either. I think the video card is dead. The AGP warn light lit up with the power is plugged in. The card also doesn't work with my nforce 3. The light on the nforce 3 is called the AGP2x light and the card is an 8x card. It's the video card right?

How can I be sure that it's the video card? If the computer won't start and the AGP warn led is on then the card is bad right?

It didn't work in the athlon 64 system and the athlon xp system. The P3 Doesn't have an agp slot. So buying a new cheap videocard will certainly fix this?
