I am trying to upgrade my Ipaq 3635 to PPC 2002. However, I am unsure of the proper things to do and expect. My Ipaq is currently running the ROM that was installed when I took it out of the box. I have the following questions:

1) Is there a way to backup the current ROM image? In case something doesn't go right in the upgrade.

2) Do I need to upgrade the ROM to something else before PPC 2002? Like ROM 1.77 or whatever it is.

3) How do I recover my contacts, tasks, etc? I have heard that I can not just restore it using active sync, will the IPAQ just create a new partnership with the machine and load my information from Outlook and Money?

That's how it's always done it for me.

I dont know about the rest, I've got a 3760 and it's ROM was always PPC 2002, good luck. If you have any problems and it's under warranty than I've heard they're pretty good about replacing it. If not maybe you could sell it "as is" on ebay :p

1. I believe that the update program will do that itself (from what i remember, my iPAQ broke a while back and it hasn't come back from being fixed yet)

2. Not that I'm aware of, i updated the original ROM of my 3635 which i got Nov. 2000

3. Pass
