Hello, trying to build for the summer to help me be more of a nerd. I have not built a comp for 5 years, so I'm really out of the loop. Anyways on with the questions and prelim build:

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Gaming only.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

$1300

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

Canada

www.ncix.com

and

www.newegg.ca

I prefer ncix though I have dealt with them a lot, and their prices seem better.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

No preference.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

I don't need a monitor, keyboard, mouse.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yes, some to get an idea.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Default, will never be overclocking.

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.

1920x1080

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

Sometime in the next 2 weeks hopefully.

With a $1300 budget I fell short of the max with this build on ncix, didn't settle on anything just playing around. The prices are after combos/deals

There's really nothing you need from the X58 platform. Switch to P55.
GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail $150
Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80605I7860 - Retail $305
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL - Retail $109

That will save you $136 and get you a faster CPU. With the saved money, you can get a 5850. The 5850 will give a nice boost at 1080P.

If you are willing to spend more, I would update the video card. Any quad core is going to be fine for current gaming. If you have a little extra in your budget, I would spring for an SSD. It won't make a huge difference while playing games, but windows will load super fast and applications can load almost instantly.
