Ditch the NeoPower for a OCZ PowerStream or ModStream.

You can still shave a few bucks off the RAM by going with value RAM and still overclock fine. The NEC 3520 may also be suggested for an optical, but the Pioneer is probably great too.

As for the PSU, I'd imagine the NeoPower would be fine, though OCZs are fine units as well.

The rest looks nice, though I hopw you won't have to wait long for the X800XL to fall to a reasonable level...

WHY go for the OCZ?

and that is valuram

and YES, i do hope that the X800XL comes near $300 soon

oh and btw, i think i'll go with the 3520A . . . the features on the pioneer, i dont need

Maybe why jpeyton recommends the OCZ is because Antec's 12V rails have historically been a little weaker than comparable brands, and having dual 12V rails (I believe the Modstream is single-12V) has been known to cause problems with some motherboards (I know the A8N-SLI has issues with it, and an MSI board--judging by how power-hungry the Neo2 is--might have issues as well). Check with the manufacturer or on one of their forums.

1. When I replace the fans, I'll be fine (is that the only thing wrong with it, after the fan replacement, i want it to be relatively quiet)
2. I don't see an Abit nForce4 Ultra board
3. I got a great deal on this in FS/FT ( ican still see if i can cancel it, should i? it was for $130 total - 250GB

I'll comment on the motherboard issue, because the other two points are resolved...

Abit has an A64 PCIe board out right now, but the AX8 is a VIA K8T890-based board. Blain is either leery of MSI's quality control (they've been hit-or-miss in the past) or the NF4 chipset itself (though I don't know that K8T890 is any more mature), or both. Certainly valid viewpoints, but it's up to you to decide. (Either board would probably be excellent, but I think the NF4 board will probably overclock a wee bit better than the VIA.)

please answer you guys, im getting antsy

is the 250GB maxtor . . .

i cant cancel it, but i can probably sell it again for a little loss

as for the TT, its already been shipped . . . is the only problem with it the noise the fans produce?

and will the neopower handle the msi?

blackinches doesn't see a problem with the maxtor assuming you got the oem version for the 3 year warranty. also only one hard drive. come on you need 2 at least.

why not just go for a 6800gt pci, they are almost at msrp and seem pretty available.

please tell blackinches how your new lcd is when your system is done. blackinches was eyeing that panel, but ended up ordering a samsung 193p because of a deal.

well amol ordered the hdd from FS/FT for $130 (250GB)

amol doesn't like very loud video cards and therefore, amol doesnt want a 6800GT pci-e

amol's 2005FPw Revision A01 is great :D

I think your system will be nice. I do have a few comments on it though. It is very close to what I am building.

Case - I think the Tsunami case is very nice it was second on my list next to the coolermaster Wavemaster case. You might even get it without the replacement fans and see how you like it when you get it.

PSU - I was going to get the Neopower as well and I bet it will work ok but there has been alot of comments on this board with the dual power rail issues. So I am going with the OCZ ModStream 450W for 79.00 at Monarch. It is modular and seems to get good reviews with the only negitive comment being the cables are a bit stiff. They are all sleeved.

Same motherboard I am got. I know though I might have problems with it due to how new it is

The Maxtor harddrive will work just fine. I get alot of westerndigital drive but I have never had a problem with a Maxtor either.

Wow the video card deal does really suck. They are ripping people off because everyone wants them so bad. I would perfer the ATIx800xl as well but I have no clue how long it will take for the price to come down. I have fond a OEM version for around 430.00 but I probabbly will endup with a 6800GT from BFG.

I ordered an X800XL on pre-order (hopefully ATi will actually ship these) for $245, so you will find these around MSRP in about 1.5 months.

BTW, PDP XBL memory is great overclocking RAM; about $223 on Newegg for 1GB.

I would still get a OCZ ModStream over an NeoPower.

Everything else looks great.

i like most of your choices, but you may want to rethink the video card. I agree that the X800XL is a great card on paper, but ATI has been pretty bad at supplying its most wanted cards, i.e. X800XT PCIe and X700XT PCIe, so i don't think they are gonna be real easy to find. Hopefully I'm wrong, but i don't know how much of a chance you will want to take on waiting for one and sitting on a ton of depreciating hardware for possibly months. And even if it is available, it won't likely hit MSRP for longer still, and at $350-400, it looks a lot less appealing than a $375 6800GT. Personally, I'd grab a 6600GT (XFX's PCIe dual DVI card is $180, i have one and love it, overclocks nicely to 552/1120MHz) and then look to upgrade around R520/NV50 time, when both companies will have SLI, PS3.0, and possibly even unified pixel and vertex shaders (DX10). This should coincide with microsoft's avalon release, as well. I just can't see sitting on that much hardware when ATI's track record recently has been sketchy.

As for other components, I've heard great reviews of the Antec, so i don't think there will be a problem with it. Just make sure you get a 24-pin ATX2.0 PSU, since PCIe mobos need the more stable power it provides. My Vantec 520A is great, and is only $90 at newegg. Just avoid that stupid X-Connect thing like the plague. Sure it's cool and innovative, but the PSU side of things leaves something to be desired, especially on a PCIe platform. And if you're going with value ram, get some Corsair Value RAM. I've yet to find anything much cheaper, and the 2.5-3-3-8 timings are pretty good for $140 for a gig. Mine are rock stable. Oh, and how much is the MSI mobo? Cause the Chaintech VNF4/Ultra is only $120. I had some problems with it initially, but the newest beta BIOS fixed most of them, and it performs great. But I have heard good things about the Neo4, so if you find a good deal, go for it. If it's close to $200, though, get an A8N-SLI instead.

Anyways, those are my $.02

thanks for the suggestions :)

to answer some of your comments . . . i'm currently working out a deal to get an x800XL into my hands very soon . . . though im secretive ;)

the msi mobo is $156 shipped for me, so i would need to pay $40 for A8N-SLi . . . not only that, but i'm not really interested in SLi
