I have never attempted to over clock a processor before. I currently have a P4 2.53 processor and its on a Asus P4S8X. Does anyone have any suggestions as what to set this to and have a breif discription how to overclock it. I believe I know computers well enough to do this, I built this PC without any problems, I have just never attempted to over clock one before. Any help would be great!!! Thanks.

1. Get an Intel chipset
2. Lock pci bus to 33 mhz, and agp bus to 66 mhz
3. Start raising fsb in 5 mhz steps.
4. Repeat as necessary, or until system becomes unstable
5. Raise vcore to a max of 1.7v, but 1.65 is much safer and usually yields almost as high of a clock
6. Run Memtest86 & Prime95 torture test to test for stability at each frequency

In addition to those 2 tests, I'd run some games to test for stability. Also, I suggest you use google to get some more research on overclocking and procedure. Like myocardia said, take it slow.

Yeah, it is funny to see peopel with no clue what they are doing just try to jump in a do oc. It is a good idea to learn as much as possible 1st. So you have an idea of what is up if something does not go right.

Thanks for the info, I was planning on doing alot of research before trying this. Do you usually see a difference when overclocking?

I see a difference in things like gaming and audio/video stuff. Just surfing the internet you can't really notice a whole lot...
