I have had an opteron 144 for about a month now and I have been running it stable at 9x300 for most of that time. I couldn't get any higher than 300 no matter what my multiplyer was so I thought that I should try flashing my bios. I flashed to an Oskar Wu bios (N4D702-3) but I still couldn't go past 300 and it seemed less stable than the original bios so I flashed to the newest one off of the DFI site.

I realise that I have gotten a 50% overclock and I am happy that I have but I want to go further.

If anyone that has a DFI Ultra-D could help me out if you have had any similar problems or point me towards a bios that would allow me to go past 300mhz I would be very grateful.

Also I have 2x512mb sticks of OCZ ddr400 rev3 that is rated for 2-3-3-6 at ddr400 that is being run at 2.5-3-2-5 according to CPU-Z. If I try to change the timings to what it is rated for the computer wont post and will just beep until I reset the cmos. This also happens if I try to change the speed to anything over 400mhz.

My system specs are:
Opty 144 w/ Zalman 7700cu
DFI Ultra-D
x1800xl w/ Zalman Fatality cooler
200gb Maxtor IDE HDD
2x512mb OCZ ddr400 rev3

If anybody could give me some help at all I would be very grateful. Thanks.

make sure your HTT multiplier is 3X
You are using a ram divider right..?? If so, try a bigger divider, just to see if the ram is limiting you
Go to your stability edge, and experiment with ram timings in A64tweaker while running SP... this will show you what is fastest and most stable.

I have just checked that I had my HTT multiplier set to 3 and it was. I have also tried different dividers but none of them as long as they keep my memory under 400mhz make a difference. I am at my stability edge at 9x300 at 1.425v (reported as 1.392 in CPU-Z) and I can't go any further.

being is your using air I would think that 2.7 might be the max of the cpu itself and not the other hardware.

A 50% ovcerclock and you are expecting more ??? Sheeesh, kids these days ... I remember back in the day when you got a 25% overclock and you thought it was a minor miracle !!

Lesson for the day: Remember what you paid for the cpu and be happy with what you have attained.
