I am running xp and I did the process that tweakxp.com had posted. The one you go into the tools menu in OE6 and select messenger options on the preferences tab deselect the start when windows starts and the allow to run in the background. Well this worked great on my account.

Now when my logs in on her account OE is very slow to start. I check the startup and msmsgs is set to run on boot for her account but there is no icon in the tray for it. When I click the icon under programs it seems to do nothing. OE6 doesn't have the messenger entry under the tools menu. When I go back to my account and start messenger manually it starts. When I go to administrator account I starts automaticly. What the heck! :| I even went back to my account and set the settings for messenger to default settings and I am still having problems with her account.

Can someone help me get this straightened out?

Thanks

This sounds like her account is missing some registry entries, probably under Hkey_Current_User. Try reinstalling Messenger under the sub-account and see if this fixes the problem. If she does not have admin rights, she may not have the security needed to run that program/access a needed registry key.

I have tried to give her account admin rights to see if that would make a difference and it didn't.

How do I go about reinstalling messenger?

I just checked the add remove programs windows componets but that doesn't show as an option.

Thanks

Edit/ I just done some searching on tweakxp.com again and found reghack to get oe6 to start normally and it worked. I would however like to know why messenger isn't working properly on these other accounts if anyone knows. I don't use messenger now but tomorrow is another day. ;)
