I just put together a system...the board details are here:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=27&threadid=1758127&enterthread=y

I ultimately resolved the boot issue in that thread by replacing the cpu (cpu incompatibility)

Anyway, I installed windows 98 for the burn-in period. About 20 minutes to a half hour after boot, I get this error message:

Fatal exception OE occured at 0028F000E819
The current application will be terminated.
Press any key to terminate application.

*When I press a key- it takes me to a blank black screen with a neon green bar running up and down the left hand side.

Thats not a very popular error according to google and microsoft (ie not any help). Your best bet it to do a re-install. It may have been a bad install.

okay i'll try a reinstall and i'll also try a different video card and memory. I am just hoping its not the refurbed motherboard. Is that an address range that its reporting? Is there any way to determine the offending hardware from the address that is being reported???

First, I tried changing the video card. About 15-20 minutes later, the pc went into suspend mode. That's when I realized that this was the problem (with the previous video card). I was able to get out of suspend mode. No errors with the replacement card. I decided to test my theory by plugging in the offending video card and then turning off the power management stuff. Sure enough, no more crashing. It doesn't bother me that I can't use the power management with this video card but I wonder what will happen when I try to play games.
