Help with OC'ing, only at 210 fsb now

ight well im new to overclocking, im not quite sure exactly what im doing wrong. basically i am able to switch the fsb to 210 without switching anything else. i tried 113 and it wouldnt boot to windows. so that means i need to change something right?

my goal:240 fsb

CPU:
Core:1890
HTT:210
RAM:
210 FSB
2-2-2-5

CURRENT BIOS SETTINGS:
High performance mode- manual
aggressive timing-disabled
dynamic overclock-disabled
HT Frequency-5x
Cool-n-Quiet-Disabled
Adjust CPU Ratio-startup
adjust CPU FSB-210
Adjust APG Freq-66
Adjust CPU VID-startup
CPU Volt-By CPU VID
Mem Volt-Auto
APG Volt-1.50
APG 3.0 Speed-Auto

DRAM CONFIG
Max Mem(Mhz)-Auto
1T/2T Timing-1T
CAS Latency-Auto
RAS to CAS Lat.-Auto
Min RAS#-Auto
Row Precharge-Auto

Current temps:38/47
3d mark 03:5351 @ 210

I know voltage and stuff has to be raised, but i dont know about all the other stuff, or how much to raise the voltage. So any pointers on what to do to get this puppy up to 220 FSB, then to 225, 230, 235, 240, and maybe beyond.

My Rig is in sig any help is appreciated.

No need to worry. I'll sum up a few quick things that must be addressed:

1. Try reducing your HT Frequency to 4x
2. Up your CPU Volt to 1.52-1.55.
3. Stay away from "Auto" settings. Esp with RAM. It will set your timings too agresssive for a solid overclock. Set HyperX UL to 3-3-3-10 at minimum if you plan on getting over 220 with it at 1:1 ratio to the FSB.
4. BIG MUST...make sure your Raptor is using either Sata port 3 or 4. 1 and 2 will reduce options of overclock.

My system is identical to yours (except OCZ Rev2 Plat Ram)

CURRENT BIOS SETTINGS:
High performance mode- manual
aggressive timing-disabled
dynamic overclock-disabled
HT Frequency-4x
Cool-n-Quiet-Disabled
Adjust CPU Ratio- 9x
adjust CPU FSB-267
Adjust APG Freq-67
Adjust CPU VID-1.55
CPU Volt-By CPU VID +5%
Mem Volt- 2.7
APG Volt-1.55
APG 3.0 Speed-Auto

DRAM CONFIG
Max Mem(Mhz)- 200 mhz (try 166 mhz if your Ram doesnt run well at high 1:1 FSB/RAM setting)
1T/2T Timing-1T
CAS Latency-2.5
RAS to CAS Lat.-3
Min RAS#-10
Row Precharge-3

You've done good research to end up with the components you're running. GJ and good luck.

thnx for the nice reply, wish i had the money to buy the rev2, only reason i got the hyperX was b/c they had a 45 mir on it so it came to same price as some xms, xcept this one is 2-2-2-5 😀. well ill give these a shot, thnx again and if i run into any problems hopefully you'll be able to help. o....what about temp wise, when is a good idle temp to stop at? like at 240 fsb if i get like 50c idle is that too high?

edit
currently at:230 FSB stable. movin on up...
240 stable
245 i get a disk read error. 243 no boot to windows, sticking at 240, maybe gunna try tightening timings.
arg had to use jumper :\ tried to set to 2.5-3-2-10 and wouldnt boot to bios :\.
Update:settled on 240 fsb, 2.5-3-3-10, 2.8v

50C is too high IMO. I'm idle at 37-40C. Load 50-54C.

What's your case and fan situation like? Notice you have a Zalman which is solid, but if your case temps are up high, that will compound problems.

FYI, I run an Antec SOHO 1000AMG with 4 80mm 31CFM fans plus fans in the Enermax Whisper II PSU.

A quick trick to get back into bios if you make a mistake on the RAM settings is to power us the K8N Neo2 platinum while holding down the Insert key. This will load in greatly reduced settings temporarily so you can make changes.

well mbm5 says im at 32, but bios says im at 41c :| grrr. so now im at 235 fsb @ 2.5-3-3-10. what is holding me back :|. i go to windows @ 240 but i fail in 3d. what do i need to change to make it past 240? ive never rma'ed before, will they just let me exchange it for the rev2? all i do is pay shipping?

edit:turns out zipzoomfly doesnt carry ocz ram :|. can i get a refund for it and say i wasnt satisfied? or am i stuck ebaying it?

Don't worry about returning the ram you just need to run it asynch, your board should let you run the ram at a lower fsb speed than the cpu.
