Help with no BIOS post.

MSI 785GTM-E45 Motherboard

woke up this morning to a frozen computer (normally I don't leave on overnight). Screen was frozen, and there was a continous beep coming from the PC speakers.

Did a reset and now I can not get PC to post.

Beep code was single beep followed by 5 short beeps. Ive tried googling but I cant find anything that is "recent"

Removed RAM and beep code changes to long beeps (as accustomed to dead/no RAM). Replaced GPU with spare, received same beep code. Reset CMOS with same beep code

I'm guessing, much to my dismay, that it may be the CPU?

Suggestions?

The 5 shorts in AMI BIOS points to CPU failure. The single start beep is just that - the start of the boot process.

I would remove the CPU, check all the pins and look for any sign of heat damage. Then, reinstall it, cooler and all and give it another shot.

If the 5 beeps persists, replace the CPU.
