Good evening,

I am going to be possible upgrading my system again soon. If all goes well with the sale of my old parts and a PII machine I'm selling I should have somewhere around $950. Here is the situation. I have an Athlon 650 CPU etc. (Specs are in signature...). But I really want to go back to an Intel setup. Pentium 3 most likely. I also need a new video card, considering Radeon. Ok on to the next part. Mobo, CPU, Mem etc. What do you guys think I should do, should I wait for DDR to drop, should I buy now ? Where am I at there ? Any suggestions welcome, thanks guys !!!

I don't see a rush to upgrade anything you have, it should be plenty fast. I would hold off and wait for DDR to drop and upgrade then.

Tbird 800
MSI K7T Turbo
Keep your current RAM
Radeon 64MB

There should be a lot of money left, explore your options.

Thank you for your suggestions, any idea when DDR will take a nose dive in price ? Its more than RDRAM now !!
Also, is there any idea when DDR equipped mobo's will arrive for Intel CPU's ?

Thanks all...

get another 128mb of memory while its cheap even though everybody says you wont see a difference and you wont. after running 256 for awhile and then take it out then you will see a difference, besides a 128mb stick is nice to have since it is enough to start a system with. if you are gaming and can get something out of you old cards then just get a cheap geforce MX but you may want to keep the ATI for the video in and build a second system specificaly for multi-media when you do upgrade but only get the geforce if plan on gaming because I dont really like the quality of the text with this card
as far as the motherboard I would really wait quite awhile until you can be sure which P4 chipsets are going to work out the best not to mention the AGP pro(8x) if your getting close then go ahead and see how far you can push your 650 or get the fastest athlon, within reason knowing you will be dumping it in a year or less and then clock away. as far as going with Intel it's a little late for that you need to ride out that athlon unless you can get around 60% or more of what you paid.
