Help with new rig

Ok so I've haven't really been following the hardware market and developements for the last couple of years. I'm looking to build a new rig now that's gaming oriented. My budget is $2500 and I'd like to get as powerful as possible. If some people could post some configs that would be helpful.
 
don't need an OS

I'll take a look at monitors. A solid monitor is all I need. Monitor doesn't need to be included in budget.

Eh, short of extremely marginal yet very expensive upgrades, you would be trowing money out of the window.

I would put the money you save towards an upgrade in the future.
