Help with new rig

Hi folks
I'm a Graphic Design student and i need a new PC to procede with my studies.

I "bought" an Alienware X51 but the credit card payment was rejected. I live in Bolivia, so the credit card was emitted here, therefore, unable to process the order.

So here I am, wanting to build myself a PC setup.
My main uses will be Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and i'll give a try to some 3d modeling programs. This coming year i will start with some photographic services.
I also plan to play some last gen games.
I'll match later a 1200p Asus monitor so there's the resolution this machine will need to inject.

I thought of these components from Newegg
CPU: i7 3770k
Mobo: Z77 or x79?
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16 GB 2x8 1600 Mhz
GPU: Radeon 7950, maybe the Sapphire Edition
HDD: 1 Tb WD Black 7200 RPM (or a 128 gb ssd for OS, CS6 and LR4?)
PSU: Corsair TX650 650w
Cooling: Suggestion?

Please note that i have a tight budget that should not exceed 1250 us$ because the components will arrive with a shipping company that will charge me about 200us$ for them.
That's why i'll buy a generic case here in Bolivia.
I already have a 1 Tb USB 3.0 WD My Passport external drive.

Are these specs right? I've read in a couple of threads here that 3770k is better suited for LR due to HyperThreading.

Also and a bit off topic :\! Do you know if Newegg accepts any other non-US credit cards?

I didn't post links because here in Bolivia we don't have inmediate vendors, just resellers that charge too much.
I won't overclock the CPU for now, but i will later with the new versions and programs that will require more power... that's why i want it future-proof.

Thanks in advance! 😀

X79 is for LGA 2011 boards and their corresponding Bridge-E(Ivy Bridge-E has not yet been released, so it is all Sandy Bridge-E) chips.

I doubt there will be a processor faster than the 3770K for LGA 1155, at least not in the imminent future.

So the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 should be enough?

Always pick your motherboard based upon the feature set (i.e. onboard video, firewire port, USB2.0, USB3.0, gigabit Ethernet, etc) and how it relates to your needs. Of course, price is usually a consideration as well (at least, for most of us, anyway).

There isn't anything wrong with the ASrock board you mentioned if it will do what you want (and need) it to do.

Not directly they won't. You might be able to sneak it in if you use PayPal though. Add some funds to your PayPal account via your Bolivian bank and then use them to checkout at Newegg.

Here's a build for you:

i7 3770K $330
ASRock Z77 Pro3 $90
G.Skill DDR3 1600 16GB $65 AP
Sapphire 7950 3GB $300
Intel 335 240GB $200
Seagate 1TB $80
Lite-ON DVD Burner $18
XFX Core 550W $55 AP
Hyper 212 EVO $30
Total: $1168 AP

Well, i think i have a better idea for what to do when i buy the components.
I decided to buy a single 250gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD and change the Sapphire with the TwinFrozr 3 from MSI.
I'll let you guys know when the components arrive, I think I'll need some extra help to build it. Hehe

Thank You all!

It's me again folks!
I'm about to buy the whole components and i decided to go with the extreme 4 because i found it at the same price of the pro 3 (i'm buying from amazon, to prevent the credit card from abroad issue)

So I have one extra doubt... should i get the extreme 4 or the extreme 4m (micro atx) ???
I won't do Crossfire btw.
The cons of the extreme 4m is a bit higher than the normal in price and i want to know if my thermal solution could fit comfortably. (if i get a mATX mobo then i'd have to get a mATX case)

The only pro would be space save but if the normal is better, it remains cheaper and is more comfy for the Coolermaster 212 i wouldn't mind space.

You don't need to get a microATX case to use a microATX motherboard. However, if it's more expensive there's not a whole lot of point in it if you're already buying a standard ATX case. If you're interested in looking at a smaller form factor for the case, that's a different story.

Hi there!

I already bought my stuff, some components have arried earlier and the rest will come in these days.

Incredibly, i could find Coolemaster cases here in my country, so my next question is which one?

Scout 2
HAF 912
CM 690 II Advanced (USB 3.0)

Which do you recommend me? Considering my choice of the MSI 7950 Twin Frozr and the Hyper 212+

They have the same price, so the decision is based on their functions and pros.

Thanks!

Personally, I would get the 690 from that list because it is a good performer and the only one that isn't ugly.

A line conditioner is not a UPS. I couldn't find any indication on the page that that product was even double-conversion (they will usually advertise it heavily if it is), which means that it is only marginally better than a normal surge suppressor. I would return it if you can.

Well, here i am some weeks later with the rig already running.

I couldn't find an affordable UPS here so i'm still with the line conditioner.

The SSD is great! From the ASRock boot screen to opening my web browser there are 15 seconds!!! Even though the 128 gb 840 pro comes limited to "only" 390 mb/s write and 530 mb/s read hehe
The SSDs will just come this year to the mass market here in Bolivia. I've got some serious advantage by now. xD

Anyway, here are some pics.

I added one fan at the left side and one extractor at the top. I got 80 degrees in the GPU so it was necessary to get better airflow, now it doesn't surpass 69º 🙂.
Right now i'm controlling the dust with a dryer cloth (i've a lot of dust in my room).
Fortunately i discovered some cool magnetic filters from Silverstone so that's my next buy!

During the assembly i noticed that the fan from the 212+ doesn't let met insert it on the right side cuz the RAM modules are a bit too large, that's why the fan is getting air from the left. But the problem is that it's the same side of the fan extractor that came with the Scout 2.
One little question, do i invert the case fan or leave it like that?

And finally, THANK YOU!!!
This would have not been posible without your help.

Just have both fans blowing in the same direction (out the back), and it will be fine.
