need to know a little more about your setup. Can you tell us the specs for your PC, along with the monitor resolution you plan to play at (1080p, etc). Also, what type of games (FPS, MMORPG, etc).

Yes, it still is a good card for gaming. But we need your system specs. Like, maybe, your CPU might hold it back or the other way around.

Is this a PC built from a custom shop? If so, how much are you paying? You may save some money by building your own, as long as you're comfortable using a screwdriver and reading directions.... The parts you listed have some weird choices; the SSD is not reliable, the power supply is overkill, and we still don't know what monitor you're playing on. Skyrim is a video memory hog, especially if you use mods.

but to answer your question, yes that video card is OK, but it depends on how much you're paying for it.

do i really need a good ssd my monitor is my old one an aser 19"" the power supply was cheaper then the 650 dose it harm anything with a overkill power supply i paid 980$$ yes pre built as i have never built one my selfe i have installed graphic cards and ram that about it ihope i didnt get scmed i would of loved the 17 or i5 but i was on a buget

for $980, you could have built an i5 computer on your own. since you already purchased this computer I guess you're stuck. The video card will hold it's own on your 19 inch monitor
