first off, i know theres somebody named fake on these forums... sry fake :\ (great minds think alike tho right :D)

ok, i just put together a new system

epox 8k7a+ (raid)
amd 1.3
512 mb pc2100 ddr
gainward gf3
full specs here

it was all good untill i put all my hds in..

suddenly the computer will *not* reboot.
like if im in my bios, and exit it (rebooting the computer) the computer stays on, but nothing shows up on screen.
my mobo's lcd screen is saying "FF" which means "Booting OS" or something like that

if i press reset everything goes fine.

"ok". "i can live with that for a little bit"
so i install win2k... when it reboots periodically during the installation, same problem.

would new drivers correct this? is something plugged in wrong? pleze help

also its giving me a floppy error, even tho thats plugged in right. i can deal with that tho.. ill try diff drives, diff cables.

thanks again.

I would try the basic thing. Take everything out except for the required stuff, cpu ram video. Take all the other cards out ie. sound network. MAybe even disconnect cd drives and one of the hard drives just to see if it will post correctly. Then try to isolate the problem by adding things one by one. If it still doesn't post using the bare minimum of parts, trying switching in an old video card or something. thats my suggestion

well do whatever but you need to isolate your problem that is a good way to do it.

Rickten is right on track. I have something to add: what PS are U using? You can't boot after you add HD's? Maybe you don't have enough power going to them? I realize this is unlikely since most folks these days have a quality PS.

Try installing everything w/just one HD. If no go, try the other drive, by itself as well. maybe you have a bad HD. Good luck. Please let us know when you figure it out; this is an interesting problem.

no, maybe i didnt say it right...

it boots fine 50 percent of the time. if it doesnt "boot" (that is it doesnt post) i just hit reset and it goes fine.

i cant reboot, it hangs right before it should be posting. if i press reset, it goes fine.

I have the nic and tried it in mine and it made stuff unstable. I tried it in another amd and intel system and they didn't like it. Something with the drivers of the nic I guess.
