Help with networking win2k machine with win98se

I can not for the life of me get a win98se machine and a win2k machine to network.... i can't share internet, can't share files printers.... i can't even ping the other computer! if some one would plz share the way they have their comps set up, so i have something to work off of, that would probably help me the most.

Load NetBEUI on both machines. And the 98se, share printers and files over this, not over TCP/IP. On the NT machine, you will need to create a profile for every computer logged onto the system and give them access control at certain levels. It's a little more involved than just two 98 machines, but works fine.

I don't see why you would have to do that, my server is Win2K/NTFS, the client is Win95b/FAT. Works fine, all I use is TCP/IP, network works flawlessly, didn't have to configure a thing. Net sharing works like a dream as well.

Hmm...

i had win2k networked with win98se at one time and it worked just fine.... then i reformated and installed a different os... now i am back and it just will not work! but last time the win98se machine was the one connected to the internet, and the win2k machine is now.... and not even sygate would share the internet... even if i enabled 1 nic and used the win98se machine.... so i am very stumped....
