Okay, I ate Chinese today, and they had these little things that looked like a very large pitted cherry, but it was white. I'm pretty sure it was some kind of fruit item. I personally didn't try them, but I have it on good authority that it did indeed taste fruity. They appeared to be canned and prepared like fruit cocktail, or canned peaches. We asked our waitress what they were, but she didn't know the English name, and I couldn't understand the Chinese name. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks.

Heh, thats what I used to call em too, but my friend went to Thailand and he said some people over there call em cat's eyes. Or maybe he really did eat cat's eye's........

ot, but this reminded me of the time that my family was crossing the canada/us boarder coming into seattle and the boarder guy asked us if we had any logans... as in boston's Logan international airport. 😛
 
Longan = bad phonetic translation.

In Mandarin, one would say "long yan", literally, "eye of the dragon". I heard it caused nosebleeds if caused in excess. I had a lot when I went to Toronto. they're better than Lychee, methinks - easier to manage. speaking of which, Toronto's Chinatown rules. all should go.
