Help with my Wireless Network!

First off, I have a Linksys WRT45G Router, and my computer is wirelessly connected to it. However, I don't know how to set up a WEP encryption. How do i make a secure connection. Does it automatically do it for you. Also, every 20 minutes or so, my wireless connection just blanks out for a second. This can be esp. annoying for MMO's.

WEP is not automatic; you will need to create public keys on the router which you need to manually enter on all the clients. This should be outlined in your user guide, but setting it up in the server and the client will be different for each model. Usually you need to access the server though a web browser. The client is usually set up through "properties" in device manager or a driver utility.

An 802.1x server can do this automatically but setting one up for a home network is too much of a hassle.

As long as your using XP and it's Zero configuation utility that is where you'll enter the client's WEP key. Or if your using the Mfgs utility you'd do it there. It can be done via device manager or network properties on some cards but usually it is a utility.

As azel mentioned, your manual will walk you through setting up WEP with pictures most likely. If your really concerned there are WEP key generators as free downloads online. They will create key's based on your instructions. You then just input that into your router/AP's config page. As well as the client.
