Help with my windows start up

Whenever I startup my machine it counts and checks my ram (normal) then the win 98 screen flashes for a second then it goes to a text screen with my specs on it and waits there for about 15 seconds before continuing to load windows. It used to not do this. How do i get it to load windows right after it checks my ram?

Oh OK. I thought it used to not do it. Then I installed an Audigy Xgamer and it started doing it. I noticed it takes a lot longer to boot up now.

well, you just made me feel better....

when I was on windows98 I could have sworn my soundblaster live X-gamer took a long time to
initialize too. Maybe it wasn't just my imagination.....

If I could ask a favor......

I've been considering Audigy X-gamer..... could you send me a PM or post here what you think of it?

thanks in advance

I just installed it so I can't tell you...yet.
If you do get it make sure when you install it you just install what you need. It tries to install all kinds of crap if you don't watch out.

I noticed it put a program called jet detection in my startup folder under msconfig. You don't know what that is do you?

No idea about the JetDetect.....

Usually, I let'em install their little hearts out. If I have probs. then I start disabling stuff0rz.

It's usually harmless enough.

I did (today) identify a TFC sound problem (voice comms.) that required me to uninstall the
Creative software and drivers and return to the nativeXP drivers.

Creative isn't masterful with XP yet, so I have been holding off on the Audigy
