I recently purchased a new Voodoo 3 3000. The problem I am having is,
-I cannot get a higher resolution than 800 by 600.

-Color depth can go as high as 32-bit(The way I understand it, you should only be able to get 16-bit color.)

I have tried updating both my motherboard bios and Voodoo 3 drivers to no effect

Make sure that you have the appropriate drivers for the monitor installed. Then try to change the resolution to higher. Im willing to bet that you just have the default monitor in the device manager. Hope this helps

If it's the monitor I'm surprised you can even get 800x600.

Just go into advanced and change your monitor to 1024x748 (not at 75hz, just the plain one) and see if that works. I don't know what resolution your monitor can handle, but if it can handle more, go for it.

That with having the option of selecting 32 bit on your voodooo 3 is normal; I have it too. Don`t know about the resolution thing. What are your system specs??

You should try the videoforum though

I had the same problem. For some reason that happens when the monitor is set to Plug and Play Monitor. You can fix it by changing it to the correct monitor you have or, I think if you get the latest drivers there might be a fix for it in them.

The Voodoo3 chipset supports up to 32-bit 2D color depth, but renders 3D at up to 16-bit color depth.
