Ok, here is my situation. I bought a Leadtek GF3 Ti200 a little while back. I have a PIII 800 MHz with 512 MB SDRAM. My problem is that it doesn't seem that my games are running up to par that they should be. Yeah in Quake I get and CS I get 70 FPS which I guess is the max for my moniter refresh rate. The problem comes in the games such as Tribes 2, only get like 27 FPS and it drops down to below 10 at times, Metal of Honor, only get lik 25 FPS same thing too it drops down real low at heavy graphic usage, and also in C&C Renegade, which I would think should get really good FPS because its not that graphic intense but I only get like 25-30. Is there any program that can help me figure out if I'm setting everything right. Anyone who could guide me through and see if there is some setting I have wrong... or am I just expecting too much out of my card and this is what I should be getting? Please help? Anyone?

Hi, I also have a G3ti200 and it's running fine, first of all you should tell the resolution/color depth in which you are running those games you mentioned. 70FPS in Quake3 is no bad. But anyway, here goes some advices. Download the latest nvidia drivers, 27.42 shold be fine. Download 3dmark2001 or 3dmark2001SE. Run the default benchmark in that prog. and you should get something above 5500points, I get 6400+ with my XP1700.
Usually this kind of problems are solved with new drivers. Probably the ones shipped with your card are quite old by now. Good luck

What video card did you have in there before the GF3 Ti200? What motherboard do u have.
Maybe the registry on the video driver(s) are in conflict even though it may not show it on the Device Manager. Try running a 3DMark 2000 or 2001 and compare with other users with similar setup as you have.

Did you correctly remove all traces of your video card?
Do you have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your system?

And make sure your card isn't running in PCI mode.

The reason your framerates drop so much is because your CPU is limiting you. The video card is fine, however a P3 800 cannot keep the GF3 card fed. You cannot get the 200+ fps in Quake 3, and high framerates in other games, because you need a gigahert + speed CPU. To really run well with a GF3 or above, an Athlon 1.4+ / P4 is truly recommended.

Ok I don't think I know how to do any of these and I don't know what kind of Mobo I have. I got it from Dell.

I ran 3DMark2001 right after startup with no other programs running and I got a 4658. The cards I had before these were I started out with an Nvidia TNT2 and then got a Hercules Prophet 4500 and finally have this.

I do have the latest drivers running.

I can understand that my CPU isn't letting me use the full potential of my card but I'd think I get something better than I do have.

Any explanations on how I can do some of the things you suggested.

EDIT:
AH found out my Mobo information

Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Model: D815EEA
Version: AAA10383-204
BIOS Vendor: Intel Corp.
BIOS Version: DELL - 20000829
BIOS Release Date: 29/08/00
BIOS Charasteristics: Plug and Play, Flash, AGP

EDIT2:
I usually run my games in 1024x768 and in 32 bit.. but I lower it down 16 and it doesn't seem to help

neomits,
Ok now we know you have a Dell version of Intel mobo.. Those computer manufacturers' mobos are not tweaked up and don't perform as well as the aftermarket mobos like the Abit, ASUS, IWILL, EPOX, MSI, etc.. so you could get some performance hit. Another good possible reason would be the registry I mentioned before. You said you had other video cards in the same system. It could be very possible you might not have fully/properly uninstalled the previous video driver. Uninstalling the previous Video driver is sometimes pain in the ass. Your registry might be messed up. I'm assuming you haven't reformatted the Hard drive for quite some time.

Suggestion:

1. Back up your things.
2. Reformat your Hard drive.
3. Install the operating system.
4. Install your GF3 Ti200 video card's driver.

(optional) 5. Replace your Intel mobo with a mean, fast, monster OC'able motherboard.

A descent system with a P3 800/133fsb with GF3 Ti200 perform better than the score you reported from your last reply.

Your P3 800 isn't too bad. If your processor runs at 100mhz bus, then that would be a little slow. If you have a P3 800 running at 133mhz bus, then that would be better.

Yeah... I plan on sometime this summer getting a new Mobo AND a new CPU. Maybe something like a Asus A7V266e with an AMD XP. But until then I wanted to find a short term solution that'd work. Thanks for your help. I may try to reformat my HD but I have SOOO much stuff on here (what I really need to do is make a partition for my OS) that getting it all back would be a pain. If anyone has any other ideas that I can try please lmk.

Well, I have a pIII 733 with a gainward geforce3 ti200 and MoHAA runs fine at 50-60fps @ 1024x780 32bit with highest graphic settings/ Quincux anti-aliasing etc. I do have my direct3d PCI mode texture memory set at 20mb and my openGL pci texture memory set at 14mb... maybe that'll help...

I'm using 27.20 drivers and the card is default overclocked to 200/460...

If messing with the drivers don't help, try overclocking... also, do you have the latest version of directx by chance?

Yeah see... I thought there would be someone with the same setup as me and getting much better FPS. Alright lets see. I do have the latests drivers of both Nvidia and Directx and I'm also overclocked to 205/470 so thats not it. I am curious about that driect3d PCI mode texture memory set at 20mb and the openGL pci texture memory set at 14mb. How would I go about doing that?

<< My Bios only supports up to 64 AGP Aperture. >>

Try the 64M texture rendering test in 3DMark2000. If it won't work at 32-bit color, then your AGP aperture might be the culprit.

Or, those games are just more CPU dependent than Video card dependent.

To set these options, go to display properties > settings > advanced > geforce3 ti200 > additional properties > direct3d settings and openGL settings and adjust the texture memory size.....

Also, do you have the latest version of directx? (it's currently at 8.1/ 9 if you're in the beta program)
